This photo was taken as the sun set over Gujo Hachiman on 13th August 2018.
Mists rose off the nearby hills making the sky look alight. This was taken during Obon, so lanterns lined the river bank, resembling embers falling from the fiery sky.
Gujo Hachiman, surrounded by rivers, and with koi carp in steams alongside pavements, is nicknamed ‘the water city’.
