‘Daruma Cascade’ 8×10 photo

When I lived in Japan I made sure to visit as many fascinating places as possible. When I found out that the Daruma dolls had originated from a particular place, I added it to the list!
This photo was taken at the Shorinzan Darumaji (temple) on 17th August 2018.

Daruma dolls are a symbol of encouragement. People will select a goal (such a learn to drive) and paint one of the eyes. Once the task is complete, the other eye is coloured in.

During a tough time for the area, the temple encouraged local farms to produce the dolls as a way to make extra money. It helped improve the fortunes of the area, and is an enduring image today.

This picture is available 8x10inches.

Please note this is the sale of a photograph, not the subject within. Buying this photo does not grant you any licensing or distribution rights. I retain copyright of the image. Please also note that the way colours appear on your screen may not be exactly how they appear in the actual photo.
